ABOUT KVA

Kerala Vishwakarma Association Mumbai is the assembly of the artisans community originally from Kerala and are settled in Mumbai. The association belongs to the five sub-castes such as blacksmiths, carpenters, coppersmiths, sculptors and the goldsmiths.

The Vishwakarma community which has a unique position in the Hindu religion and its customs and traditions, has an illustrious history beginning from ancient times to modern ages serving various walks of life with great accomplishments. The community has produced outstanding personalities in the form of architects, sculptors, painters, designers, etc.

Kerala Vishwakarma Association in Mumbai covers the whole cross section of the original artisans community. It is the biggest and well known association of the Vishwakarma community outside Kerala and since it is based in the commercial capital of India, it is a beacon of hope for the entire Kerala Vishwakarma community.

Kerala Vishwakarma association Mumbai is a Govt. recognized and registered body under the Public Trust Act of the Govt. of Maharashtra. The association was established in 1993 under the able guidance and organizing power of Shri K.K. Gopalan, Shri. V. Subhramaniam, late Shri. C. K. Narayanan, late Shri K. Shreedharan, and many others. It started operating from Kalina and later from Sahar, Andheri East, the largest industrial suburb of Mumbai. After few years of dedicated hard work, the association was fortunate to have its own office at Bhandup, an eastern suburbs of Mumbai city. This was made possible with the benevolent help of dedicated Vishwakarmas. The fully owned office was inaugurated on Republic Day 26th Jan 1997. Association which started from a trickle had grown into with more than 1,700 families.

Today the association has diversified into various branches like Banking in the form of Kerala Vishwakarma Cooperative Credit Society Ltd., Marriage Bureau, Women's Wing, Welfare Board, Cultural Wing, Youth Wing, Vishwavidya Foundation for the cause of education and has a editorial board for tri-monthly magazine named Vishwakairali.

Our OBJECTIVES

To promote unity and solidarity among the people residing in the City and Suburbs of Greater Mumbai and the adjoining areas with particular reference to the members belonging to Kerala Vishwakarma Community. To work, help, assist and strive for their social, educational, cultural, spiritual, intellectual and economic progress and upliftment, and to do charitable work.

To propagate, impart, inculcate and encourage social awareness and progressive outlook among the members of the community and the general public.

To aid, assist, establish, open, takeover collaborate, promote and maintain any institution of institutions or adopt means for development and promotion of education in the field of art, science or any other skill or field, to encourage and to uplift the deserving by awarding prize and giving scholarship or any other aid.

To render moral encouragement and assistance for the betterment of life of the members of the Community. To organize, arrange for encourage and promote celebration of National, Cultural, Social functions and festivals.

In matters of common interests to co-operate and associate with other Institution, Associations or Organizations to foster and further Social, cultural, moral, ethical and spiritual values.

Shri. K.K. Gopalan our Hon. Founder and Founder Secretary of Kerala Vishwakarma Association ( 1994-97 ). He departed on 17th May 2013. It was indeed a sorrowful news to us. KVA had organized a special Condolence Meeting at our Bhandup office on 27th May 2013.

His Vision towards the community development had resulted the formation of Kerala Vishwakarma Association, Mumbai. His family is residing at Borivili, Mumbai. He belongs to Koolakkal Family, Thottipal, Trichur Dist., Kerala. Wife : Mrs. Pushpa Gopalan Son : Manoj Gopalan, Rajesh Gopalan & Daughter Mrs. Reshmi Manoj.

Shri. N.N. Sasidharan our Hon. Ex. Secretary of Kerala Vishwakarma Association ( 2001-05 ). He departed on 19th December 2012. It was a sorrowful news to everyone. KVA had organized a special Condolence Meeting at Marol Education Academy Hall on 23rd December 2012.

He was also Chairman of Vishwakairly Editorial Board from 1999 to 2012. His family is residing at Chembur, Mumbai. He belongs to Nadukkepurathil Family, Vennikulam, Pattanamthitta Dist., Kerala. Wife : Mrs. Lalitha Kumari Sasidharan Son : Ranjith Sasidharan & Daughter Mrs. Reshmi Unnikrishnan
